AUDF (Forte) - Regulated Digital Australian Dollar
2026-07-09
AUDF is an Australian dollar (AUD)-pegged stablecoin issued by Forte, focused on compliance and regulatory alignment. It is a regulated, fiat-backed digital representation of AUD designed for institutional and retail use in payments, settlements, and DeFi. Forte's approach prioritises regulatory clarity, making AUDF suitable for use in regulated financial contexts in Australia.
AUDF is backed 1:1 by AUD held in regulated custodian accounts, subject to periodic third-party audits verifying the reserve. Issuance and redemption require a KYC/AML process: on-chain token movements are permissionless, but entering or exiting the system requires identity verification. The peg is maintained purely through issuer credibility and redeemability rather than any algorithmic mechanism.
Together with AUDM from Macropod, AUDF represents one of two approaches to on-chain AUD: regulated fiat-backed versus decentralised. The adapter reads AUDF's totalSupply() and applies the AUD/USD exchange rate to normalise to USD. Having both AUDF and AUDM in DefiLlama's tracker lets users compare the market size of regulated versus decentralised approaches in the Australian dollar stablecoin category: a useful lens for understanding which regulatory model is gaining more adoption.
