QCAD (Stablecorp) - Canadian Dollar Stablecoin
2026-07-11
QCAD is a Canadian dollar (CAD)-pegged stablecoin issued by Stablecorp, a Canadian blockchain company focused on regulated fiat-backed stablecoins. It enables CAD holders to participate in DeFi while maintaining exposure to the Canadian dollar, and is used for payments and as a trading pair on exchanges serving the Canadian crypto market.
QCAD is fiat-backed: each token is backed 1:1 by Canadian dollars held in custodied reserves audited regularly by third parties. Issuance and redemption go through Stablecorp directly with KYC/AML processes, making it a centralised, regulated stablecoin similar in structure to USDC but denominated in CAD. There is no algorithmic stability mechanism: the peg holds as long as Stablecorp maintains the reserve and honours redemptions.
The adapter reads QCAD's ERC-20 totalSupply() on Ethereum and applies the CAD/USD exchange rate at each data point to report the USD-equivalent circulating supply. The peg type is set to peggedCAD. Since QCAD is a centralised stablecoin with a small but stable supply, the adapter uses a simple supply snapshot rather than tracking mint and burn events: the supply changes only when Stablecorp explicitly mints or burns tokens through their treasury wallet. Adding QCAD extended DefiLlama's non-USD stablecoin coverage to the Canadian dollar market segment.
